With Bing Desktop, you can start searching without opening a browser. An Internet connection is required to search or update the daily homepage image.
Search bar
Use the search bar to start a search, see search suggestions, and view your search history. You can dock the search bar to the top of the desktop, move it anywhere you want, show a small search box on the taskbar when the app is minimized, and change its color.
To browse the top news articles, trending images, top videos, and popular searches, click the Top Contents icon
. To see posts from your friends on Facebook, click the Facebook icon
.
Daily image
Automatically make the Bing daily homepage image your desktop background or choose from any of the last nine daily images. For details about the image, point to the information icon next to the search box.

Settings
To change how the search bar works, click the settings icon
, click GENERAL, and then select or clear the setting you want:

Change the color of the search bar, use Choose the theme color you like.

Control how to show the hidden search bar, use Click to expand the hidden search box instead of hover.

Automatically open the search bar, select Launch Bing Desktop when Windows starts.

Turn on search history, select Remember my search history.

Automatically paste text that you've copied in to the search box, select Enable auto paste text search function.

See an alert when popular or trending content is updated, select Alert me automatically with updated Top Contents popup.
Show the Bing Desktop
If you're using Windows 7 or earlier, to choose what happens when you minimize the search bar, click the settings icon
, click PREFERENCE, and then select or clear the setting you want. If you're using Windows 8, click the Bing Desktop tile on the Start screen.
Exit Bing Desktop
In the notification area, right-click the Bing Desktop icon, and then click Exit.
