When you tag a page about yourself, a link to that page is posted on your Facebook timeline and anyone that searches for you on Bing will see the tagged page in their results.

When you tag pages about friends, they see a link to that page posted on their Facebook timelines. If you tag a page about a friend more than once a day, Facebook combines them in to one post. Your friends can see all of the pages you've tagged on Bing.

Give Bing permission

Go to Bing Tags beta, click Start tagging, if necessary, sign in to Facebook and give Bing permission to post to Facebook.

Tag yourself

  1. Go to Bing Tags beta, and then enter your name in the search box.

If the results aren't about you, add more information about yourself, like your job title and city. For example, john smith world importers seattle.

  2. Click Tag me below any result that relates to you.

The tag becomes public and anyone that searches for you on Bing can see it. Also, your Facebook profile and the pages you've tagged are grouped higher in Bing results than those for people with the same name. If you have more than three tags, you see the most relevant results and a link to see more tags.

Remove a tag

You can remove, or untag, pages that you and your friends have added about you, and you can remove a page you have tagged to a friend. When you remove a tag about you on Bing, only you can tag yourself again to that page.

  1. Go to Bing Tags beta.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Click Untag me below any result that you or your friend have tagged.

    • Point to your or your friend's name below the result, and then click Remove tag.

Block tagging

Only you and your Facebook friends can tag pages to you. To prevent your friends from tagging you to pages that aren't, or that you don't want, associated with you, don't approve the tags, and then unfriend them. Before any tag becomes public you review it. You decide if the tag becomes public or not.

Blocking the Bing app in your Facebook settings blocks Bing Tags beta. Also, if you don't have instant personalization turned on in Facebook, you can't be tagged using Bing Tags beta.

Facebook posts

When a friend tags you, it's posted to both your Facebook timeline and your friend's Facebook timeline. Also, you'll get a Facebook notification when a friend tags you. Click the notification or go to Bing Tags beta to review the tag and approve it or not.
