MSN Explorer: Make sure "Client for Microsoft Networks" is set as the primary network logon

To check the primary network logon, follow the instructions for your operating system:

Windows XP

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. Type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.

  3. Under Dial-up, right-click your MSN dial-up connection, and then click Properties.

  4. On the Networking tab, under This connection uses the following items, select the Client for Microsoft Networks check box.

    If Client for Microsoft Networks isn't listed, click Install. Click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click Add.

  5. Click OK.

Windows 2000

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. Type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.

  3. Right-click your MSN dial-up connection, and then click Properties.

  4. On the Networking tab, under Components checked are used by this connection, select the Client for Microsoft Networks check box.

    If Client for Microsoft Networks isn't listed, click Install. Click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click Add.

  5. Click OK.

Windows 98

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. Type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.

  3. On the Configuration tab, under The following network components are installed, make sure Client for Microsoft Networks is listed.

    If Client for Microsoft Networks isn't listed, click Install. Click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click Add.

  4. Click OK.

Windows Vista or later

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

    - Or -

    Click Start, and then click in the Start Search box.

  2. Type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.

  3. Under Dial-up, right-click your MSN dial-up connection, and then click Properties.

  4. On the Networking tab, under This connection uses the following items, select the Client for Microsoft Networks check box.

    If Client for Microsoft Networks isn't listed, click Install. Click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click Add.

  5. Click OK.
